When I first got the bike it would only go about 15 to 20 miles on a full charge, now it can go to about 30 to 35 miles on a full charge. If I peddle for about 5 minutes I get about 15 minutes of power.

  2. the dynamo is …
the dynamo is pretty useless, you are just converting the power the electric motor makes back into electricity. surely there are frictional losses too… you are probably losing power

  3. trying to..but I …
trying to..but I recently F56ked up the MCC. (Maybe have 2 buy new one :( ( !!) Dont use NanoPh though…use NiMH safe , biodegradable, much much cheaper and drain fast – actually a good property if they release their charge fast. Also you dont need a heavy DEWALT pack etc. cos NiMH dont need sensors.

He has a pretty good bike there..BUT it still looks like a contraption not like something that was designed to be used in that way.

Green has to get ‘cooler’ in order to beat global warming!

  4. not entirely… I …
not entirely… I call a geodesic regenerative brake dynamo senses when you are rolling down a hill…as you apply the brakes to slow down your speed the dynamos increase their pressure on the tire wall assiting breaking…when the regenerative breaks cut in…even after you come to a complete halt the dynamo and regenerative breaks still continue to generate power.

In the works. dynamos uphill or on the straight maybe…but when breaking or downhill the you get energy.

  10. front wheel drive …
front wheel drive for traction? You will have much better traction on the rear wheel….

  11. If you put another …
If you put another motor on the front hub, would that make a both-wheel drive cycle! Of course some circuitry is required for coordination. What I think is that when you are using only one of the motors for going, the other can charge! Now you can have a front wheel drive for traction and a real wheel drive for speed.

  12. crystalyte 408.

    crystalyte 408.

It isn’t a scooter. You have to pedal it. Scooters have itty bitty tires to get torque. Bikes have great big ones for coasting.

  13. Most other hybrid …
Most other hybrid electric bikes are not meant to take the place of mountain bikes or road bikes (that people could ride for the sake of riding), but as a replacement for a vehicle. This one is perfectly fine, but as for the others, they dont look like mountain bikes because they aren’t a replacement for a bike. as strange as that may sound. bikes are already clean, its cars that aren’t

Hey, your video has inspired me to build my own electric bike.

However, I know nothing about the conversion process. Is there a tutorial explaining how to do this, a kit to possibly buy, and to upgrade it with your DeWalt batteries?

    Thanks!

  19. The Mongoose is …
The Mongoose is just a low end cheap mountain bike with an aluminum frame and a decent front disc brake. It works fine for city riding. Wouldn’t recommend it for real mountain biking. Any bike works. Just bolt the motor, controller, and batteries on and go.

  20. mongoose is …
mongoose is ultimate?! i hope this is a joke you are wasting half of the motors power just pushing unnessasary wheight on this bike! what does it wheigh 37-45 lbs? also you dont need dual suspention it just takes more power to move the bike. by the way the disk brake isnt decent quality if the bike only cost $170 get a good bike with GOOD componets and just mabe you could put the word ultimate in the title. (get a $450-800 specialized)

  26. Gas prices at this time in Lexington, KY are around $2.00 a gal. However, the oil companies hook us and then have us pay more for gas inn cycles. I don’t trust them and I will continue to ride my electric bike as much as possible.

By the way, these are the most incredible bikes I have ever seen. Thanks for an incredible blog!
